As Mr. Perkins and his heirs and devisees are to be the sole beneficiaries of said vacated alley, it seems right that Mr. Perkins pay the Town of Fromberg for AT LEAST HALF of the time and services the Town Attorney accrues during the process (ie: research and either letter and/or quit claim deed preparation) to finalize said vacation of alley. Even if the Town Attorney is paid a monthly base rate, Fromberg town residents should not be made to pay for the enhancement of Mr. Perkins property value. The Town Attorney’s time could be better spent working on issues that specifically impact our entire town, especially during times of budget constraint. Any such costs should either partially or entirely rest upon the parties who benefit, not on the back of local government.

Now at the council meeting the Mayor said it did not cost anything for the Town Attorney to research and file the needed documents. The Town Attorney is paid by contract, and is paid a monthly contract fee, so in essence, yes it did cost the town.
