Here are a couple examples where Officer Dawson’s actions weren’t very complimentary. A small statured Vietnam Veteran in his 70’s was riding his bicycle across America. At many towns across this nation he was welcomed and allowed to spend the night in his little bicycle tent. Not Fromberg, he was told to move on, IMMEDIATELY. Not so long ago a Native American individual stopped at local bar asking that local law enforcement give him a ride to the Crisis Center in Billings, MT. The man seemed very disoriented, perhaps due to hypothermia. Someone called Officer Dawson, his response? “Let him walk”. Per the Carbon County News Police Blotter, other law agencies provide transportation in such instances. It seems reasonable he could have at least referred this call to the Carbon County Sheriff ‘s Office. When the weakest members of society are not afforded respect or kindness from our local police officer, don’t expect the community to respect that officer.

These incidents happened sometime ago. While his response was uncalled for, do not forget that Mr. Dawson has resigned. Was this issue in the Carbon County News copied and presented to the former Mayor? Did the incident happen while I was on the council? Because I have no record of it being brought to the council meetings. We had one report by Mr. Dawson of someone putting a tent in the park… no specifics were mentioned.
As brought up in a previous comment, Ordinances need to looked at and some changed, we have an ordinance committee, sign up spend a couple of hours going through them and bring your suggestions. Many , many thoughts out there to be heard and a lot of work to be done. Don’t just gripe about things to your friends and neighbors, bring your ideas and thoughts to the council or to me. I have regular hours set up to be at town hall and am available to speak to everyone. Again:
Mayor is available at Town Hall…… every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon… 2 to 4 pm.
