TOF 9-11-2017 Council Meeting posted at 10:10 a.m. on 9-8-2017?

Once again the above notice (photo below) was posted AFTER the 10 a.m. First Class mail delivery time in our local Post Office this Friday, September 8, 2017. Time Stamp available. Does that give constituents enough advance notice to plan for a Monday evening meeting? Do habitual late postings indicate the current administration’s lack of organization skills or do they just NOT WANT constituents to attend?   Once again, why aren’t these notices posted on the Official Town website?

  1. To be fair, it is stated at the end of the last meeting’s minutes (August 7, 2017), “Next Regular Town Council Meeting Date: Monday, September 11, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall of Fromberg.” I realize not everyone may wish to read the minutes, but the information is there for those who care to look, and I imagine anyone who is concerned about attending may well read the minutes.

  2. The agenda for the Town Council Meeting has always been posted on the Friday before the meeting, and has been so for a long time. I agree that the minutes should be published as it gives people who prefer not to go to the City Office to read them, but they are available as well as tapes of the meetings, for a fee. I have long urged everyone that gets in touch with me to attend, but they feel they are not heard or their concerns are not important. Too many have made that comment and I find it disheartening that more do not take an interest in the administration of the town.

  3. Several solutions are available. Said Agenda should at the very least be posted FIRST THING Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. before the local mail delivery deadline.
Submissions to Agenda could be closed Wednesday at 5 p.m., thereby allowing an additional day for posting. Local government has the ability to be proactive with regard to valid constituent’s suggestions. Does it have the desire?

    • Yes there are solutions available. The agenda could be posted on Wednesday, that would give everyone a chance to view it. The minutes should be transcribed immediately on the day following the meeting and posted on the town website. Too many items to list here.

  4. Have wasted lotsa my valuable time at council meetings. Usually the mayor never even recognizes my raised hand from the floor. If he ever does he immediately dismisses my concern as invalid. “Not worthy of discussion” he says. Why beat a dead horse?

  5. To John Q Citizen:
Too many complaints about this problem, and it is a problem. I have always felt that the governing body for the town should hear and find solutions for a persons concerns. Your tax dollars play a large part in support of Fromberg. As it is, budget reviews are fruitless and any suggestions for fiscal responsibility are effortless. I have too many people tell me that it is useless to attend Town meetings, but, it is not. If more would attend these meetings, maybe voices would be heard by all instead of just two. I agree that at times you feel like you are batting your head against the wall, I feel that all the time. We need to change the way business is done and follow through. Your comment sends a strong message. Thank You.

  6. When will Sepember meeting be up on you tube? Heard the cop n city guy got 3% raises. City’s broke. Budget was listed as PRELIMINARY. Really? Is anything ever gonna be done about this runway town and folks that run it?

    • Charles W.
Your comments echo mine exactly. The budget has been increased from the budget I looked at in July. Two councilmembers were not able to attend the August budget workshop and their absence was noted well ahead of time, so that workshop should have been rescheduled. It was not.
I have fought long and hard to reduce the waste and frivolous spending in the budget to no avail. We are looking at increase costs, large increases, not only in the lagoon project, but in fuel and supplies. This budget has set us up to fail and we will if spending isn’t nipped in the bud. We also need better time management of city employees. my feeling is, is that the work does not merit the wages.
People should attend the budget workshop ( open to the public) and the town meetings. Those of us who are working hard for the town and the people in it could use the support. Thank You for your comment.

  7. All portions of the 9-11-2011 Town of Fromberg Council Meeting are now available for viewing on You-Tube. Links are shown in posts. Generating You-Tube videos is a lengthy process. Thank you for y our interest.
