The budget workshop was a rerun of the same arguments. Councilwoman Price suggested that those of us who opposed additional spending, come up with a financial plan that would show the savings to the town, and she would possibly consider taking that into account. I have asked for the same consideration. I would like to see what the financial benefits would be to the town by keeping this budget intact. We are facing additional costs, not only to the lagoons project, but in everyday projects in the town itself. Do we really want to go through yet another period when we have to look forward to cutting the budget so severely that we don’t have additional monies to actually run the town properly? Why wouldn’t we want to put extra money aside for future needs? The money that funds this town is your tax dollars and the money you pay for your water, sewer a trash. We just got a notice saying the cost to the town for sanitation pickup will be .20 cents higher per customer. I am afraid this is just the beginning of rising prices.
