Bridger to Hold Public Meeting Re: Proposed Ordinances Pertaining to Variances and Zoning

The “500: Legals” section of the 5.24.2018 Issue of the Carbon County News (photo below) states: “PUBLIC NOTICE THE TOWN OF BRIDGER WILL BE HOLDING A PUBLIC MEETING. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town of Bridger will be holding a public meeting on June 5, 2018 at 6:30 P.M. This meeting is regarding a discussion on proposed Ordinances pertaining to variances and zoning. Proposed Ordinances are available for review at the Town Office located at 108 South D Street, Bridger, MT during normal business hours and also on the Town website at www.bridger-mt.com. Published May 24th & May 31, 2018 MNAXLP

Sister Town Bridger has the same legal representation as Fromberg does, namely Hope Freeman. At Fromberg’s last Council Meeting (5.7.2018) Fromberg also discussed and adopted variances and zoning Ordinances. Fromberg however, did not advertise for, nor hold a PUBLIC MEETING regarding these issues. Begs the question why not ?

We also note the “500: Legal” specifically refers to the fact that “Proposed Ordinances are available for review…also on the Town website at www.bridger-mt.com.” Again, if Bridger has implemented these procedures why not Fromberg? Sister cities.  Six miles apart.  Similar demographics. The glaring difference seems to be the leadership and management style of the current mayor and her predecessor. Again:http://www.fromberg-mt.gov/minutes.html has not been updated since 12.4.2017!

  1. A committee to review Ordinances was formed two years ago. The only people that even showed up were Jim Schuma and I. And one time the town hall was closed. Mr. Schuma is very knowledgeable and was willing to get to work. But, we actually needed a true committee and not just two people.
Now everyone is concerned with Ordinances!! Tammy Taylor has spent a lot of time going through them with her committee and have made some valuable and common sense suggestions. I am sure this will continue. There is some question in regards to the push to pass a Growth Policy or adopt the County Growth Policy. This was brought to the council last year, Richard Anderson tabled it and requested a committee to review it and bring suggestions and questions to the council. That committee was never formed or even met. Now, Mr. Anderson set it aside for study, did he have misgivings?? If it was so important to Fromberg, why??

  2. Tammy Taylor goes above and beyond in her position on the zoning committee. She does her homework, sticks to her guns and speaks well. She’s on top of things regardless of pressure from landowners or the mayor an councel. Job well done Tammy!
