“Consider Proposal for Interim Town Clerk”?

The TOF 9.10.2018 Council Meeting Agenda (pictured below) identifies Item #23 as “Executive Session: F.L.S.A. Complaint”.  A Montana FLSA (Fair Labor Standard Act) information link is also listed below.

Obviously the Town of Fromberg is on the Montana Department of Labor & Industry’s radar.  The past two hiring practices of the TOF have been questionable.  The above specified “Proposal for Interim Town Clerk” (pictured below) also seems suspect.

As a municipality, The Town of Fromberg, by default is an “Equal Opportunity Employer”.  “Equal Opportunity Employer” compliance demands  that several strict standards be met.  One of those is the advertising and subsequent hiring practices regarding Open Positions. tfa believes the 3 Day notice entitled “Special” below does not comply with those standards. Said notice could be construed as arbitrary and capricious in that it doesn’t allow all potential interested candidates an opportunity to be a part of this interim hiring process. In the event the particular person named in said proposal were to become the interim hire;  that individual would have a “leg-up”as it were. Said Interim Town Clerk would have gained job experience in the Clerk position unavailable to other applicants who might also later apply for the permanent Town Clerk position.  Prudence would dictate that Town of Fromberg Attorney Hope Freeman preview and sign off on any such “Special” hiring precedent.

  1. Common sense aint very common in Fromberg. Don’t the mayer or folks on the COuncil ever THINK in this town? Critical thinking skills? NOT! when people askt where i live Im ashamed to say: fromberg.

  2. So you’re telling me this interim clerk is familiar with black mountain software??? I bet not! Unbelievable what happens at City Hall. I’m curious if this party is one extremely rude individual, who has attended several council meetings tends to do a lot of conversing on the side. Is this the demeanor that we will see at city hall?
