Mayor and council overspent last year’s budget by $77,000? and that’s okay? nothing to see here folks. move along. and the council sure did. yep. passed this budget unanimously. no mention of any specific plans for any cutbacks. really? do you run your budget at home like this? absolutely not! the only reason they’re not overdrawn like we would be is they pulled from the water and sewer reserves. plus they had an influx of like $17,300 from sales of right of ways to pipelines, council cashed out a $30,000 bond or some such fund. so in reality the town was overdrawn to the tune of $77,000 due to over expenditures in nearly every budget. but they bailed their butts out on our dime.
The bookkeeper lady from Bridger who is basically running the budget show seems nice. And knowledgeable. However I think the Mayor and the Council are relying too much on her and her interpretation of things and not doing their homework. They just nod, say yes, ask a few basic questions and are happy to kick the can down the road. $77K is about 15.4% of the town’s budget. That’s not chump change.
