Looks like the ol audit wasn’t as easy peasy as Miller thought. And it’s only 50% to 75% complete with several missing documents. And yes Miller, when you don’t submit payroll taxes in a timely fashion. the IRS does frown on that and they charge large fines. Forget not! You are in large part responsible. You have been Mayor 2 YEARS and sat on the council at least another YEAR. SO, yes, it is your fault, your problem! So let’s don’t be blaming everyone but yourself. Looks like this audit is gonna cost way more than your initial cheap estimate. We’ve already paid out $8,000 dollars. Heaven only knows what the final cost of the audit will be.
Maybe documentation would be easier to find, if it were not for the fact there were numerous individuals in the clerk’s office after Brenda Kansala left. Paperwork flew out of the office! Lord knows there were numerous individuals combing through paperwork yet not one individual was in official capacity of the clerk position. Logic says these individuals dumped documentation because if you were observant customer at City Hall you would have noticed Brenda didn’t dispose of paperwork. After she left, and in the months that followed if you were observant, was like a vacuum sucking paperwork out of City Hall.
The fact that we are months into this audit it has not been completed this should concern all citizens! I’ve seen large companies audited in a much shorter time frame. We paid Kristen Sweet well to have all the paperwork up to par so an audit could even go forward. When this is completed, there should be a complete accounting of Sweet’s wages, the total amount paid to the accounting firm, as well as a list of all penalty costs that the Town of Fromberg has accrued through its poor business practices. The public has a right to know!
