Jail Site Chosen, By Eleanor Guerrero, CCN Senior Reporter

On Thursday, Jan. 30, the Carbon County Commissioners approved a resolution at their office in Red Lodge, that the site chosen for the new Carbon County jail being proposed will be in Joliet, the Stevens property.
This site was one of four final sites narrowed down by the commissioners, the others being: Rockvale, Fromberg and the Yellowstone Dog Arena, south of Roberts.
The expectation is that the facility will house around 100 beds and cost from $18-26 million but all details are subject to change with final construction determination.
Using current estimates (subject to change) the county said on Wednesday, Jan. 29, that the tax increases county residents could see could be around $50 taxable value per $100,000 household.
A resolution was passed on Tuesday, Jan. 28, by the Commissioners to put the vote for the jail bond to finance the project on a ballot to be mailed out in August.  Stay tuned to CCN for future updates.

  1. Pound sand Miller incorporated. We all knew Frimberg would never get the jail project. Not with your ridiculously stupid proposal. Miller n her merry men and what you call a clerk. Frimberg, the laughingstock of carbon county.

  2. Not everyone accepts incompetent! Although Miller is probably breathing a sigh of relief for the fact Fromberg didn’t get it. She’ll be drinking tonight and doing a happy dance. How much time was spent on this ridiculous moronic scenario?
