From the sounds of it, you’re running on nothing and without a workable strategy! Anyone that has a business recognizes when bad times come, you have to cut the hell out of the fat in your budget. Yet I’m gathering none of you recognize the fat… I’m suspecting from the sounds of it, your budget is way over inflated on some items and under funded on others. Begin at the beginning boys. Eliminate what you can. Focus on what gets the job done labor wise… are we being cost-effective? Then you’re onto potentially raising rates. Boys thats crucial! If you don’t do the first 2 right, the utility paying public are going to very loud and vocal! Its apparent from the YouTube videos that they have a very long memory of money squandered. Remember these budget monies are not yours, but are merely put into your trust to be used in the very best manner. Its NOT your money. Be responsible with our hard earned tax dollars. Make 10% cuts across each department!
Also take into consideration the fact, it was your own doing that creates the potential for a water, sewer, garbage rate hike! Poor planning on your part shouldn’t necessitate a crisis on our end! Carefully consider how each an every dollar is spent. There is a ton of obvious waste in the financial administration budget. Way to much ineptitude to warrant giving any clerk a $2.50 hourly raise which is a 15% increase in her wage/ benefit package! Come on boys…wake up!
So now it sounds as though we are digging in the piggy bank without a plan… Would one not recognize they need a serious look at cost savings and at least have an outline of how they were going to proceed from here on out? What we get is that they’re going to raise the Table of Fees which is basically water and sewer connection fees. And there hasn’t been much house building going on in Fromberg lately! Looking at the town’s losses, that’s like putting a bandaid on a crack in a dam! I recall the restructuring Table of Fees is a topic that’s over two years old and nope that still hasn’t be accomplished. Looks like we got some can kickers here. Money lost. Good job, Mayor! Not!
Miller how can you even have such a smarmy little attitude, You’re the one who dropped the ball. Noone else. You are rude to anyone who doesn’t fall in your little line. What is this Hitlerville, Nazi Germany? And Stapletoe. Could be you any more condescending to the audience? Put a staple in your mouth. Shut up. Listen for a change. You who manages Fred’s Appliances should at least have a basic idea of how business and budgets work. We can forgive your lack of knowledge but not your lack of civility and professionalism. Yes the dude in the audience voted. But we sure as hell won’t vote for this mayor or you or mush mouth Nottingham again. Nate Caton gets it. Bill Gruel at least has a certain common sense logic…you and Missy mayor pants are arrogant without remorse. Town expenditures can’t exceed your revenues by a stupendous percentage of 54 points across the board. You wouldn’t know how to read a line item budget, let alone balance it if bit you on the butt. Believe me. This is a decision that’s gonna bite hard.
Look at the difference between last year’s balance and the projected slaughter of this year’s budget balance! Then ask yourself as a tax-paying citizen: what additional benefits in services did I receive with this massive elimination of funds? Ask yourself: where is the proposed money going? Are we building something? Are we acquiring a large purchase? The one thing I know for sure is: the purposed budget, which is as clear as mud, has a thirty-nine thousand dollar inflation in wages. With a substantial ncrease like that, I would expect the Town be gaining in financial revenues, not depleting the reserves in each and every budgetary category! Apparently, I too don’t understand ‘governmental budgeting’ LOL. However Mayor and council don’t even understand simple math…
Simple accounting says dispersements should never exceed revenues! In other words, my paycheck has to be more than my deductions!. Unless you’re compromising the budget and that very entity with financial suicidal behavior! Its the same as over-spending and then using your savings or placing the remainder on your credit card. If you promote economic suicide for yourself, that’s one thing, but to commit monetary suicide for all the taxpayers in the Town of Fromberg is not fiscally responsible! Its the WRONG thing to do! Especially when concerned citizens step up to the plate at a public meeting and voice their valid concerns!
